Old Trafford will again be the focal point for the football world this Monday evening (13 May) when Manchester United's Champions 20|13 trophy parade begins with a special 'send-off' event at the stadium.
The parade bus will embark on its journey into Manchester city centre from the East Stand forecourt, where fans are invited to assemble in advance of the 18:00 start. The event will be capacity-controlled so please arrive in plenty of time to secure a vantage point.
Sir Alex Ferguson and captain Nemanja Vidic are expected to address the crowd before the bus departs along Sir Matt Busby Way at 18:30. The bus will then head towards Deansgate for 19:15 and finally Albert Square at 19:40 where Sir Alex will again give a speech and The Courteeners will play live.
East Stand event access & Parking
Fans will be directed to access the parade area as pedestrians from each end of Sir Matt Busby Way. The crowd barriers will be in place from 15:00. Parking for parade visitors will be in car park N3 (facing North Stand). Any Museum visitors will need to park in N2.
Metrolink’s Bury/Rochdale/Piccadilly-bound platform at St Peters Square will be closed from 16:00 until after the completion of the parade. Passengers for St Peters Square are advised to alight at Deansgate/Castlefield or continue to Market Street/Piccadilly Gardens and alight there.
No other stops are affected but passengers are advised that Metrolink expects the network to be very busy from early afternoon onwards – so allow more time for your journey, whether you’re heading into Manchester for the parade or heading home from work.
