"Champions League games give you a totally different sensation to ordinary league games or any other competition, from the moment you hear that unmistakable music onward. When we played Olympiacos at Old Trafford in the last round, the atmosphere was as good as any I’ve experienced. The fans were superb that night – they were the 12th man to help us get over the line. But our supporters have been wonderful all season, during a difficult time for the team, and we need them to roar us on again.”
De Gea's team-mate Darren Fletcher also expects the fans to be on top form for the visit of Bayern Munich and hopes the Reds can repay all supporters for their passion and faith.
"We've seen [the fans at Old Trafford] at their best all season," he told MUTV. "They've been fantastic. The fans have really stuck behind us as a team and we see that as players. There have been times when we’ve lost matches and they have still applauded us coming off the pitch. We've got a special bunch of fans and we want to reward them."
