With his compatriot and Manchester United team-mate David De Gea doing his best to distract him, the Spanish playmaker started slowly before quickly finding his range to provide a virtuoso display of pinpoint accuracy. Mata finished the challenge by hitting the toughest target, worth 75 points, twice in a row to give him a final score of 200. Michael Carrick was the previous highest scorer, ahead of goalkeeper De Gea and midfielder Anderson who took up the test before moving to Fiorentina on loan last month.
After completing the challenge, Mata spoke of his pride at joining Manchester United, commenting that the club's stature is inspirational. "I now realise how big a club this is, followed by millions of fans from around the world. To be on the inside, living it, is amazing."
