When The Floodlights Fade: Garry Birtles profiles the striker who joined Manchester United as one of English football's most expensive players, only to endure a long goal drought.
Garry was plucked from non-league football by Nottingham Forest boss Brian Clough and played a key role in the outstanding side that won the European Cup in two consecutive years, before the then-Reds boss Dave Sexton brought him to Old Trafford.
The £1million-plus move did not work out as Garry would have liked, and in this hour-long MUTV documentary, he talks frankly about his time at United, his rise through Forest's ranks and what happened after Ron Atkinson sold him back to the City Ground in 1982. Atkinson and former team-mates Bryan Robson and Ray Wilkins all discuss Garry's playing days and there's also a look at his current career as a top TV pundit. This is his story, in his own words and it's only on MUTV.
When The Floodlights Fade: Garry Birtles will first be shown on MUTV at 18:30 BST on Saturday, with other chances to see it including 21:00 BST on Sunday.
