There’s had to be patience as you were one of the players who the staff said needed time to develop physically. So is it even more satisfying now?
Yeah, with local teams like Everton and Liverpool, we played them when we were young as well. We used to find it a bit intimidating really when we were younger compared to with the size we are now. We can back ourselves because we’ve been working in the gym.
So do you feel strong enough to compete now?
Definitely. I’m lifting heavier weights now and am pushing on.
Your goals were a vital part of the campaign with Will Keane often left on his own up front. It hasn’t always been a main feature of your game though?
In the first year of Under-18s, I don’t think I scored. I got three or so and then loads in pre-season and just carried it into the season.
How did you manage to develop so impressively in front of goal?
I’ve just been watching other people, experienced players and how they finish and try to add that to my game. I’ve been practising after training and it’s worked.
