Although Tom Cleverley and Danny Welbeck cite last season’s title triumph as a career highlight, both are keen to move on and create more history with Manchester United.
The Academy graduates played in a combined total of 47 top-flight matches to help the Reds secure the championship crown by 11 points, an achievement that was celebrated via a glorious Barclays Premier League trophy parade around the streets of Manchester.
And while that event was one that will live long in the memory, Cleverley is completely focused on reclaiming the title this term. It's a challenge that is being relished by everybody at the Aon Training Complex, where training is as competitive as ever.
“Having that first title medal under your belt means a lot,” Tom told the new issue of Inside United. “It’s a relief to get the first medal, but it also makes you determined to win more. Experiencing that victory parade is something you want to do again and again and again.
“It was a very special day, which I'll never forget, but I don't just want that to happen once – I want it to happen many times. We've got that taste now and it makes us even hungrier.
“You see that in training every day. It’s always competitive. It can put you in a bad mood if you lose in training! It’s the most competitive training around, which makes it intense, sharp and helps you improve.”
