Adnan Januzaj received an early birthday present on Tuesday after Manchester United fans around the world voted him their Player of the Month for January.
The Belgian-born prodigy, who turns 19 on Wednesday, caught the eye during his seven appearances to earn 75 per cent of votes cast on ManUtd.com and its six foreign language sites, placing him well ahead of fellow nominees Danny Welbeck and Chris Smalling.
After receiving his award and a £500 cheque to be given to a charity of his choice (Adnan nominated United for UNICEF), Januzaj explained why he is delighted to be such a fans' favourite at Old Trafford.
"I would like to thank all of the fans, my team-mates and the coaches," Adnan told ManUtd.com in an exclusive interview. "I am very happy with this trophy and I hope it is not the last one. I hope there will be a lot more to come."
When asked if he has heard the chant that United fans sing in his name, Adnan said: "Of course. I like it when they sing because it gives me a bit of motivation as well. I am very happy with it."
