MANCHESTER UNITED 5

MANCHESTER CITY 0
The 1994/95 season is usually remembered for its wretched moments - Eric Cantona's infamous ban and narrowly missing out on the League and FA Cup - but it did at least give us one memory to cherish, beating Manchester City 5-0.
This Thursday night thriller saw the Reds gain revenge for the 5-1 hiding by City at Maine Road back in 1989, later described by Sir Alex Ferguson his "most embarrassing defeat".
United had won several Manchester derbies in the meantime, including a five-goal thriller at Maine Road in 1993 when Roy Keane scored the winner in the dying moments. But the Old Trafford scoreline on 10 November 1994 was the one all Reds had been yearning for.
Cantona opened the scoring and Mark Hughes - United's consolation scorer in the 5-1 nightmare - was also on target. But it was Andrei Kanchelskis who really set OT alight with a hat-trick. The Ukrainian was United's top scorer in 94/95, with 14 league goals, 15 overall.
