12:06 The players will be bringing some Christmas cheer to a group of youngsters this afternoon when they make their annual visit to a couple of local hospitals. The squad will split into groups and deliver hundreds of Christmas presents to excited young fans. The hospital visits are something the players always enjoy and it really does mean a lot to the children. Meanwhile, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and his reserve squad made some special deliveries to Francis House Children's Hospice last week. Ole and the players spent time with youngsters at the hospice and, like the first team, handed out a host of Christmas gifts. (GT)

11:32 We've just had confirmation from the club that Mame Biram Diouf has been granted a work permit. The striker will be available for selection from January (excluding the FA Cup tie with Leeds). I spoke to Sir Alex about the striker last week during our interview for Inside United and he had nothing but praise for the 22-year-old Senegal international. "He’s quick, very good in the air and a good striker of the ball," revealed the boss. (GT)

10:03 We were saddened to hear last night of the death of Albert Scanlon. I never met him but by all accounts he was a warm, likeable man – as well as a top player in his day, incredibly featuring in all 42 league matches the season after the Munich disaster. We'll have a tribute from Sir Alex to the local-born Busby Babe soon. (JT)
