The United squad arrived in Munich on Monday morning ahead of the inaugural Audi Cup. But what, exactly, is the competition all about? And what other delights can travelling Reds expect from the Bavarian capital? Let's see...

Held over two days at Bayern Munich’s futuristic Allianz Arena, the Audi Cup features two games – played back-to-back – per night. On Wednesday 29 July United meet Boca Juniors while the hosts play AC Milan. The winner of each game will contest the final the following evening; the losers battle it out for third place.

Drink up
You can’t leave Munich without visiting a brewery, and Augustiner is up there with the best of them. Established in 1328, it’s fair to say they know what they’re doing. The brilliantly-named (and incredibly strong) Maximator hits the spot every time.
The height of fun
How many stadium tours have you been on that culminate in a 40-metre abseil onto the hallowed turf? You can do just that at the Olympic stadium in Munich. While you’re in the area, you can also swim in the pool where American Mark Spitz won seven gold medals.
