Ronny made no secret of his desire to become the world's best player - 118 goals in six United seasons made it official.

A dazzling cameo on 2003/04’s opening day remains one of the great modern ‘I was there’ moments. And for the next six campaigns the Madeiran magician dazzled with a bewildering armoury of tricks and geometry-defying free-kicks. His annus mirabilis was 2007/08, 42 goals propelling United to European glory and making him a shoo-in for European Footballer of the Year – with the world accolade his a year later.
