United generally don’t need a helping hand – but if opposition players want to put their foot in it, how can we refuse?
A feature of this enthralling league season so far has been the number of own goals scored in favour of the Reds – nine - and while there’s been a real spate of late, the trend started way back in August, in United’s second home game, against Arsenal.
Abou Diaby delivered three points on that day with a header past Manuel Alumnia; the Gunners goalkeeper then made a blunder of his own in the recent return match when he palmed Nani’s cross over the line. Like Arsenal, Portsmouth have provided two own goals this term, courtesy of Anthony Vanden Borre and Mark Wilson in last weekend's 5-0 romp.
Anton Ferdinand of Sunderland, Bolton’s Zat Knight, Andy Dawson of Hull, Scott Dann of Birmingham and latterly Aston Villa’s James Collins have also done us a good turn. But which is the pick of the OG's? Vote for your favourite now at manutd.com/polls.
