Less than 24 hours after last week’s Manchester derby, United and City were at each other again… this time in a table football competition at Nike’s flagship store on Market Street.
Rio Ferdinand, Darron Gibson and Javier Hernandez took on City’s James Milner and Adam Johnson (with both sides assisted by lucky competition winners) to celebrate the launch of Nike’s first dedicated football shop.
Nike have thousands of stores around the world, but Manchester’s Market Street location has been relaunched as the first to focus entirely on football.
The sportswear giant's vice president for UK and Ireland, Marc Van Pappelendam, says it made sense to open such a store in Manchester.
“It’s a city rich in football history,” he says. “The new store will serve football followers from Manchester and beyond with the best Nike Football products and experiences available.”
