COVENTRY CITY 0
United: Schmeichel; Parker, Bruce (Phelan 59), Pallister, Irwin; Sharpe, Ince, McClair, Giggs (Kanchelskis 79); Cantona, Hughes.
United have racked up five goals in the last two Barclays Premier League outings and it was no different on this day back in the first season of the revamped division in 1992.
En route to ending a 26-year wait for the title, Coventry were crushed 5-0 on 28 December with Eric Cantona and Ryan Giggs ripping the Sky Blues' defence to shreds.
Giggs' hanging left-footed shot went in off a post to open the floodgates with Mark Hughes pouncing on a Cantona pass to double the lead. Cantona got in on the act himself with a typically cool penalty before heading a Brian McClair cross into the path of Lee Sharpe, whose volley bounced past visiting keeper Jonathan Gould.
Hughes teed up Denis Irwin for a deflected fifth in a classic demonstration of United in the most rampant of moods.
