Video: Wigan 5-0

United defeated Wigan 5-0 last Monday and the meeting between the two sides on this day in 2009 produced the same scoreline.

Roberto Martinez's Latics were no match for the classy Reds, who were 3-0 up at the interval, as a one-sided contest unfolded at Old Trafford.

Wayne Rooney's expert near-post finish to a Rafael cross got the ball rolling before Michael Carrick swept an Antonio Valencia pass past Chris Kirkland. Rafael added a third just before the break by firing in from the edge of the box and then celebrating with his brother Fabio on the bench.

Dimitar Berbatov nudged in a Valencia centre in the second half and the Ecuador winger capped a fine display against his former club with a majestic finish after being slid in by Rooney.
