The football world stopped to watch its biggest club match on Saturday night as the champions of England and Spain contested the UEFA Champions League final at Wembley stadium.

Manchester United, hoping to lift a fourth European Cup and a third under Sir Alex Ferguson, were in the end beaten by an inspired Barcelona side featuring the considerable attacking talents of Lionel Messi, David Villa and Andreas Iniesta.
