We've narrowed down the shortlist for the ManUtd.com Player of the Month to four candidates.
The champions won four of our six matches in October but had to settle for a point at Liverpool and, of course, were well beaten at home to City in the derby.
David De Gea: For the second month in succession, the young keeper is in the frame for our accolade, proving he is settling in nicely at Old Trafford. A top-drawer display at Anfield was a major factor in the Reds leaving Merseyside undefeated and he kept a clean sheet across Stanley Park at Everton. Not to blame for any of City's six goals as he was left woefully short of protection.
Phil Jones: Displayed great versatility and energy throughout the month after playing in three different positions. Another of the summer signings to impress, the teenager was outstanding at centre-back against Norwich, making one superb saving tackle on Steve Morison. A surprise midfield role at Liverpool and an impressive showing at right-back against Everton provided further evidence of his qualities and, although he came on as a substitute against City, he wasn't culpable for the late
