Video: Welbeck in action

Danny Welbeck's renewed commitment to the club he first joined as an eight year-old is Manchester United's gain - and very much the opposition's loss.

Now 21, the lad from Longsight has netted against Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur, among others, in his two seasons as a top-flight regular with Sunderland (on loan, 2010/11) and United. Not only that, but he's made his mark on a major international tournament with one of the best goals of Euro 2012.

No wonder Sir Alex Ferguson was so keen to keep Welbeck and find space for him in a United squad that also contains last season's top two scorers in the Barclays Premier League (Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie), the guy who shared the previous year's Golden Boot (Dimitar Berbatov) and the man who's slammed in more than 50 goals for United and Mexico in the last two years (Javier Hernandez). Danny's at home among them.
