The gaffer from Govan has now blown out the candles on his cake 27 times as the Reds boss and this time the act must have been delivered with added satisfaction. After all, he did so in the knowledge that his team heads into 2013 top of the Barclays Premier League and seven points clear of nearest rivals Manchester City.
We hope Sir Alex found time to take a short breather from one of the most high-profile and high-pressure jobs in the country to enjoy his special day. And we hope you enjoy our tribute to the man who has done more than any other to make Manchester United the greatest football club on earth.
Thanks, Sir Alex. And happy birthday.
