It was April 2005 and Wayne Rooney, then just 19 and less than a year into his Reds career, let fly with a vicious volley from 25 yards.
Here's what Wayne had to say about the goal at the time:
"Me and Paul Scholes stay behind after training sessions and have someone cross the ball in for us to practise shooting and volleying.
"The first-team players stay to knock the ball in, so it’s always high-quality delivery. Most of our shots go over or wide but, luckily enough, the one against Newcastle flew in.
"I struck it sweetly and it’s gone in the top corner. If you can hit the ball as hard as you possibly can, you’ve always got a chance because the keeper might not be able to hold it. Then, even if he does save it, there’s a chance of it rebounding for someone else.
"You concentrate 100 per cent on the ball rather than where the keeper is. As long as you concentrate on the ball and catch it nicely you’ve got a chance. It’s my best ever goal."
