Q&A: Michele Fornasier

When did you first kick a ball? When I was five.

First club? I started at San Giacomo but moved straight away to Vittorio Veneto.

Date signed for United? I joined three seasons ago - in 2007/2008.

Football idol? When I first arrived, it was Fabio Cannavaro as he'd just won the World Cup and was probably the best player from Italy. So it was him. If not, Paolo Maldini as well.

Why do you like them? They are very tough defenders who are good with their feet as well, clever players - especially Maldini.

Players you are similar to? I like to see Nemanja Vidic as one of the main ones.

Strengths? I like to head the ball a lot. I think I'm aggressive. Maybe I'm not the most technical player yet but I'm more aggressive.

Career highlight so far? I think coming to United and, of course, winning the Youth Cup last season.

Good things about football? Every part of it. I love training - everything. The smell of the grass, the boots, working hard at everything.

Best mate at the club? Paul Pogba's one of them, but the other Italian players and I get on with everyone more or less.
