Video: Carrick's first

A first-half blitz enabled United to beat Aston Villa for the second week in a row on 13 January, 2007.

The two sides had met in the FA Cup third round the previous Sunday, when the Reds had been pushed all the way before securing a 2-1 win.

This time it was much more routine however. Inspired by Paul Scholes, United took the lead when Ji-sung Park fired low into the corner after future England defender Gary Cahill fluffed his clearance.

Michael Carrick opened his account for the Reds to double the lead shortly afterwards, before Cristiano Ronaldo headed in the third. Gabriel Agbonlahor pulled one back for Villa in the second half, but it proved no more than a consolation.
