One of United's biggest Barclays Premier League victories came with a 6-0 caning of Newcastle.

The managerless Magpies were shown no mercy after a goalless first half in which Sir Alex accused his players of "trying to walk the ball into the net".

The floodgates opened after Cristiano Ronaldo's opener and the Portuguese star went on to bag his first and only hat-trick in the division as keeper Shay Given must've started to feel like he was in a firing range.

To make matters worse for the visitors, former Red Alan Smith was sent off for dissent after Carlos Tevez had added a late sixth when his shot crashed down off the bar and over the line.
