United's legends took on their Real Madrid counterparts at the Bernabeu last month.

Quinton Fortune was a driving force in midfield for the Reds but could not prevent his side from slipping to a 3-2 defeat to a home line-up including the likes of Zinedine Zidane, Luis Figo and Roberto Carlos.

"I wanted to win the game but I was taking in the moment as well," Fortune informed ManUtd.com. "I was playing against Zidane and Figo and just wanted to focus, which is fine, but I forgot to switch off this time. So I really enjoyed playing again in a great stadium.

"Emilio Butragueno played as well and it's not every day you play against your past heroes as players. I took it all as it was unbelievable and a great day. They showed us so much respect, even the president was shaking the players' hands in the tunnel and Jose Mourinho also came into the changing room to greet everyone and had a word with us. We were all humbled."

United are set to host Real in a return fixture next year and Fortune warned: "We want to beat them but I don't know how we're going to return the favour in terms of the hospitality and the amazing
