Video: Monday night football

Manchester United kick off the 2012/13 Barclays Premier League campaign with a Monday night fixture against Everton at Goodison Park.

It's not the first time the Reds' season has begun under floodlights on a week night, though. Just two years ago, Sir Alex's men hosted Newcastle United on Monday 16 August in a game that served up plenty of excitement.

Goals from Dimitar Berbatov and Darren Fletcher gave United a deserved lead over the newly-promoted Magpies, before substitute Ryan Giggs volleyed home a third in the second half to underline the Reds' dominance.

Let's hope United get off to a similarly assured start this season.
