Our summer series takes a look at some of the season's many positives and sub-plots...
Wayne Rooney was amongst the goals throughout 2011/2012 with only Arsenal's Robin van Persie outscoring him in the Barclays Premier League.
The United striker was not only influential in deeper areas of the pitch but netted regularly - scoring the Reds' opening strike of the campaign at West Brom and the final goal at Sunderland.
As well as a personal-best tally in the league, the England hitman produced some memorable moments in the cup competitions including a wonderful headed goal in the FA Cup tie at Manchester City.
Check out MUTV's video featuring some of his best efforts from a fruitful campaign on a personal level.
