United and Chelsea served up an incredible feast of football at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday evening, but ultimately it ended in disappointment for the Reds who lost out 5-4 after extra-time.

Sir Alex's men were just seconds from booking a spot in the Capital One Cup quarter-finals, but Scott Wootton's push in the area on Ramires gave the hosts a lifeline as Eden Hazard slotted home the spot-kick.

Further strikes followed in extra-time from Daniel Sturridge and Ramires to seal Chelsea's place in the last eight, despite a late penalty from Ryan Giggs.
