United 4 Galatasaray 0 | UEFA Champions League | Wednesday 7 December 1994
When Manchester United last hosted Turkish giants Galatasaray, a fresh-faced youngster from Leytonstone made his Champions League debut.
David Beckham was actually one of four young guns in the United line-up; Nicky Butt, Simon Davies and Gary Neville were the others, with the latter pair combining to put the Reds in front after just three minutes at Old Trafford. Davies collected a cross-field pass from Neville and smashed a low finish into the bottom corner.
Eric Cantona went close to adding a second before Beckham opened his European account, driving home from 20 yards. The Turks were on the ropes and, after the interval, Sir Alex's side pressed home the advantage, Roy Keane ghosting past two defenders to slot home the third, before Bulent's own goal made it 4-0 after great work by Cantona.
Although United still bowed out of the 1994/95 competition, the seeds were sown. Five and a half years later, Beckham, Neville and Nicky Butt were all part of the side that ended United's wait since '68 to win the European Cup again.
