Manchester United’s assault on the Barclays Premier League title continues on Wednesday night with a trip to east London to face West Ham United.
United’s title bids have been famously derailed at their Upton Park home twice before during Sir Alex’s reign – in April 1992 and May 1995. And it took a wonderful stoppage-time equaliser from Robin van Persie to rescue a 2-2 draw in the FA Cup there this season.
However, in the Premier League the Reds have enjoyed plenty of recent success on the ground, winning the last three encounters.
Ryan Giggs scored the memorable only goal of a tight game in February 2009, but the Hammers were put to the sword 4-0 the following season by a depleted side that featured Darren Fletcher and Michael Carrick in a makeshift back four.
And in an epic fightback two years ago this month, Wayne Rooney scored a 14-minute hat-trick as United came from 2-0 behind to win a pivotal title-race game 4-2.
Watch our video highlights of those three games and let’s hope the leaders can take another step closer to title no.20 by beating Sam Allardyce’s side on Wednesday.
