Robin voted star man

Robin van Persie has picked up the first United man-of-the-match award of the 2013/2014 Barclays Premier League season.

Last season's top scorer netted two beautiful strikes in the 4-1 defeat of Swansea City and earned the lion's share of the vote from fans on ManUtd.com, Twitter and Facebook.

Van Persie's figure of 73 per cent made him the runaway victor ahead of Danny Welbeck, who also scored a fine brace. Defender Rio Ferdinand, the third selection of MUTV's special guests Lou Macari and Gordon McQueen, was the other candidate.

More than 10,000 fans voted inside an hour and supporters will get the opportunity to contribute again in the next fixture - at home to Chelsea on Monday week.
