Manchester United captain Nemanja Vidic lifted the Community Shield at Wembley on Sunday afternoon following a 2-0 win over Wigan Athletic.
The Serbian skipper held aloft the trophy in front of more than 50,000 fans, who had made the long journey south to London, before handing the Shield to new manager David Moyes.
It was Moyes' first taste of silverware, although he was at pains to point out that he felt it was a trophy earned more by his predecessor, Sir Alex Ferguson.
After all, it was the former manager's achievement of winning the league last season that earned United the right to compete in Sunday's match.
