Photographers had plenty to point their lenses at as Manchester United and Hull City opened the Boxing Day card with a battle royal at the KC Stadium.

Ex-Reds centre-back James Chester opened the scoring in the fourth minute before the Tigers quickly doubled their lead via David Meyler's deflected shot off Jonny Evans.

However, the champions climbed off the canvas and were soon level at 2-2 thanks to a couple of superb first-half efforts from Chris Smalling and Wayne Rooney, whose half-volleyed strike was also his 150th Premier League goal for the club.

The comeback was all-but completed after the break when Ashley Young’s tempting cross was headed past substitute goalkeeper Steve Harper by Chester, his own goal making it a match of mixed emotions for the Hull defender.

The Tigers put up a fight in the final flourishes of the match - when Antonio Valencia was also sent off for two bookable offences - but United held on to claim a memorable win.

The Reds' official club photographers John and Matt Peters were there to capture the action and we’ve compiled the best of their work in the extensive gallery above.
