The spirit was more competitive than festive when three teams clashed in the Manchester United Christmas Challenge at the Aon Training Complex.
In the red corner, the current playing squad was represented by Anderson, Ashley Young and Kiko Macheda, while former United players Quinton Fortune, David May and Mickey Thomas lined up against them in the away kit. Completing the trio of competing groups were the reigning Christmas Challenge champions - the coaches, in the form of head of fitness & conditioning Tony Strudwick, fitness coach Richard Hawkins and team masseur Rod Thornley.
TV presenter Jez Edwards was tasked with keeping order and this was no mean feat, especially when one of the mini games, 'Rockin' Robin' (nothing to do with van Persie), broke down with a row over the rules.
