One of the most absorbing clashes between the two managers lit up a chilly December clash at Upton Park just before the turn of the Millennium. The Reds were three goals up and coasting inside 20 minutes but the Hammers hit back until Dwight Yorke's second strike from close range killed the game.
Fools' Day gold: United 7 West Ham 1, 2000
Coming to Old Trafford on 1 April at the height of United's domestic dominance, West Ham made the mistake of taking an early lead. By half-time, the Reds were two goals clear and Paul Scholes went on to rack up his first hat-trick for the club.
Saints sunk: Southampton 1 United 2, 2005
Relegation-haunted Southampton hosted United on the final day of the season and, even though Sir Alex had an FA Cup final date with Arsenal to consider, Redknapp could not count on an old pals' act. John O'Shea's early own-goal sent the home support into a frenzy but Darren Fletcher and Ruud van Nistelrooy's headers condemned the hosts to the drop.
