What made him a great captain? Simple – you look at him and see a man who'd header a cannonball, tackle a rhino, put his body in the way of a bus. When you see a man with the armband ready to run through a brick wall for the team it makes you want to follow. He leads by example. Strong deeds, not words.
Most memorable moment? There are a couple from the latter half of this season that stand out. One was a block against Everton in February – watch the replay in slo-mo and see the sheer determination to muscle Marouane Fellaini out of the way and launch himself in front of Leon Osman's shot. The other was a messy clash of coconuts with Reading's Noel Hunt. Vida didn't flinch, didn't even seem to notice. Is there a Terminator under there?
