Video: Welbeck's first

"Why not take a shot in that situation? It's your league debut and your team is already winning 3-0. So that's what I did, I had nothing to lose and it just went straight into the top corner."

Welbeck has gone on to score 22 goals for United in all competitions and has found the net eight times in 20 games for England, but still rates that first strike among his favourites.

"It was probably one of the best I've scored, along with the one I scored against Derby in the FA Cup that year and my first two goals for England as well," Danny said in an exclusive documentary on MUTV.

"I want to score goals as a striker but I also want to play well as well. I don't want to be out of the game for 70 minutes and then score a goal; I want to have an impact on the game all-round. I think that makes you a better player."
