Phil Jones says he can't wait to face Arsenal and hopes a "rocking" Old Trafford atmosphere will help his team-mates topple the high-flying Gunners.
Arsene Wenger’s team last won the Premier League in 2004 and while they have challenged in recent years, the North London club haven't been able to turn early season form into a sustained title bid.
However, after recruiting club record signing Mesut Ozil from Real Madrid, the notion of Arsenal mounting a genuine push for the crown has gained credibility this term. Jones, a title winner with United, is looking forward to facing them on Sunday.
“I have been surprised, I think everyone has,” the 21-year-old said when quizzed on Arsenal’s fine start. “I don’t think we expected it at the start of the season but they have done really well and hopefully we will be able to break them down.
“They will be filled with confidence after a great win in Dortmund during the week, but this is a different game with a completely different atmosphere. Hopefully Old Trafford will be rocking on Sunday and we will be able to get the three points.
“These are the fixtures you look out for when the fixture list is announced at the start of the season and with Arsenal being in form at the moment, they are probably the team to beat. It will be a difficult game but hopefully we can get the win.”
