Manchester United were pegged back on Saturday afternoon as Southampton held the Reds to a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford.

Just as he had been before the international break, youngster Adnan Januzaj was the centre of attention - this time because the Belgium-born winger had put pen to paper on a new five-year deal at the club before kick-off.

Robin van Persie returned to goalscoring form for the Reds and gave his side the lead early on, showing great desire to get to the ball after Artur Boruc had saved from Wayne Rooney.

With chances coming thick and fast throughout the second half, David Moyes' men couldn't find an all-important second goal, enabling Dejan Lovren to break United hearts with a minute remaining.

As you can see in our gallery, the Reds' official club photographers captured every twist and turn on a dramatic day.
