Wayne Rooney has seen it all during his 10 seasons at Manchester United and that experience will no doubt help the new Reds captain as he leads the team into the 2014/15 campaign.

Since arriving from Everton in 2004, Rooney has hit 216 goals and is quickly closing in on Sir Bobby Charlton's scoring record for the Reds (249). He has also won a host of major honours including five Premier League titles and the UEFA Champions League.

The 28-year-old club was handed the armband by new manager Louis van Gaal on Tuesday evening, adding yet another intriguing chapter to what remains one of the most successful and eventful careers in Old Trafford history.
