Gallery: Wayne's world

Wayne Rooney has already delivered plenty of memorable performances during his time at United and there are sure to be plenty more after he signed a four-year contract extension, which keeps him at Old Trafford until 2019.

Since arriving from Everton in 2004, Rooney has hit 208 goals and is quickly closing in on Sir Bobby Charlton's all-time scoring record for the Reds (249). He has also won a host of major honours, including five Premier League titles and the UEFA Champions League.

The 28-year-old has found the net 11 times during the current campaign and earlier in the season he earned praise from manager David Moyes, who said: "He is on the verge of being one of the great legends at this club."

So, after Wayne committed his long-term future to United we thought we'd look back at some of his landmark moments as a Red. Click on the main image to launch the gallery.
