Wayne's story so far

Wayne Rooney has delighted Manchester United’s legions of supporters by signing a new four-year contract extension with the club.

The striker’s renewed commitment to the Reds gives him an excellent chance of overhauling Sir Bobby Charlton’s record haul of 249 goals for the club, with Rooney currently fourth on the all-time top scorers list with 208.

The first three of those came on his sensational United debut in 2004 when, following his transfer from Everton, the then-18-year-old struck a brilliant hat-trick against Fenerbahce and became an instant idol for the Old Trafford faithful.

You can see those three goals, along with highlights from his United career so far, in the video above. It also features some of his most spectacular strikes, including the stunning overhead kick against Manchester City in 2011 and the brilliant volley against Hull on Boxing Day this season.
