After the 7-0 thrashing of LA Galaxy, we decided to look at some of the Reds' biggest recent pre-season victories...
v Seattle Sounders, 7-0 (20.7.11, Centurylink Field)
Sir Alex's men showed no mercy against the MLS side with Wayne Rooney helping himself to a hat-trick. Fellow strikers Michael Owen and Mame Biram Diouf also hit the target, along with Gabriel Obertan and Ji-sung Park as after a relatively tight first half, the Reds cut loose with three goals in four minutes during one frenetic spell.
v League of Ireland XI, 7-1 (4.8.10, Aviva Stadium)
United marked the opening of the new venue in Dublin with a resounding victory as Park again impressed, scoring twice. Nani converted a penalty and there were also goals for Owen, Javier Hernandez, Antonio Valencia and Jonny Evans against a shell-shocked Airtricity League XI.
v Greentown FC, 8-2 (26.7.09, Yellow Dragon Stadium)
Ryan Giggs scored his only senior hat-trick within 30 minutes of a second-half cameo in a thrill-a-minute affair in Hangzhou, with Owen claiming a double. Dimitar Berbatov, Zoran Tosic and Nani helped mete out some serious punishment to the Greentown defence in the final fixture of the Asian tour.
v Singapore XI, 8-1 (24.7.01, Kallang Stadium)
The Reds enjoyed some shooting practice by blasting eight goals past a select team as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Dwight Yorke both bagged braces. Phil Neville, David Beckham, Ruud van Nistelrooy and Giggs were also on the scoresheet.
