Manchester United fans can look forward to watching the pace and power of Antonio Valencia until at least the summer of 2018 after the Ecuadorian extended his contract with the club.
The World Cup winger has become a key member of the Reds’ squad since he joined from Wigan Athletic in 2009, scoring 21 goals in 191 appearances and picking up two league winners’ medals.
Valencia’s United spell has been eventful, from the broken ankle that ruled him out for six months in 2010 to the zenith of a clean sweep at the 2010/11 end-of-season awards.
He showed signs of rediscovering his best form last term and supporters will be hoping that continues in Louis van Gaal’s brave new world.
