Brazil's medical staff are confident Anderson's knee injury – sustained in the country's 0-0 draw with Argentina on Wednesday night – is not serious.
The United midfielder will undergo a scan to determine the full extent of the damage, although Brazil doctor Jose Luiz Runco remains upbeat.
"Anderson felt his knee twist," Runco said. "However, it doesn't seem so serious. We'll know for sure after the MRI scans.
"Only then will we be able to make a decision about Anderson's participation in Sunday's match [for the U-23 side]."
Anderson fell awkwardly on Wednesday under a challenge from Liverpool’s Javier Mascherano and was stretchered from the field.
