Sir Alex Ferguson has labelled Darren Fletcher a "star" after a string of impressive displays in both domestic and European competition.
The Scottish midfielder started all six matches in October and was particularly influential against Celtic, Everton and West Ham.
"Michael Carrick's absence has allowed Darren Fletcher the opportunity to establish himself in the team," Sir Alex said. "[Now Carrick is fit] it makes things even more difficult for me because I think Fletcher's probably been our star player this season in many ways."
High praise from the boss but do you agree, was Darren the top man for United in October?
Dimitar Berbatov scored three goals (and set up two for Ronaldo against West Ham alone), while Wayne Rooney netted in the month's first three fixtures.
At the back, Patrice Evra and Rio Ferdinand were crucial to United's success. We've also shortlisted Ryan Giggs; in his new central midfield role, Giggs' class has shone, particularly against West Brom and Everton.
