Berbatov savours strike
Dimitar Berbatov admitted United had to be patient in order to overcome Blackburn's dogged resistance at Old Trafford.
The Bulgarian scored the all-important opening goal just after the interval, swivelling to crack home a superb strike, and Berbatov feels United ultimately deserved their victory.
"It was difficult but I think our defence did a magnificent job, and we scored the goals and overall we deserved to win," Dimitar told ESPN. "In the first half I had a couple of chances to score, and you need to be patient and when another chance comes along you have to score it, and I was very glad to score my chance. Then Wayne Rooney scored another and that was it finished for Blackburn.
"We were relieved because they are a difficult team to play against. Every time when you score a goal you are relieved because you feel you've done something special and that was the case for me."
The victory keeps United on Chelsea's coat-tails at the head of the Premier League, and Berbatov concedes that he and his colleagues are concerned only with picking up points, rather than the margin of victories.
"One-nil is a good result, as long as you finish it that way," said the striker. "If it's three-nil or four-nil, it doesn't matter. As long as we keep winning I think everybody will be happy."
