Reds duo Joshua King and Ritchie De Laet (pictured) have returned to Old Trafford from loan spells at Preston North End.
Both loans were due to expire on 4 January 2011 but Preston North End's official website reports the Reds have exercised a right to recall the players early. PNE chairman Maurice Lindsay has also told media United "have suggested they would like Matty James back as well". James, however, is at Deepdale on a season-long loan and, for now, remains at Preston.
Eighteen-year-old King has been at the Lancashire club since the start of the season, although an ankle injury meant his appearance against Middlesbrough on 28 December was his first for more than two months.
De Laet, meanwhile, experienced a much shorter stay. The Belgian international arrived in November, initially on a 28-day loan. This was subsequently extended, although has now been cut short a week before the new expiry date. Ritchie started all five games Preston played during his time at the club.
