While Nani will be doing his best to provide a decent supply line to Wayne Rooney at the Allianz Arena on Tuesday night, the winger will also be doing his bit to reduce the influence of his opposite numbers down the flanks.
Doubts remain over the fitness of influential Bayern Munich pair Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben with the latter forced to sit out training on Monday because of a calf strain. But should they both feature Nani insists he and his team-mates will need to be on high alert.
"Robben and Ribery are great players and when we defend we’ll really need to concentrate if we're to stop them," he told ManUtd.com.
"It’ll be a difficult game, but we are confident. If we want to win every trophy then we have to believe in ourselves."
The Reds found the net three times on their European travels last time out against AC Milan and, like his manager, the Portuguese winger has reiterated the importance of snatching at least one away goal.
"Everyone knows away goals can be very important and we need to try and score as many as possible in Germany," he added.
