Danny Welbeck came off the bench to make his England debut in the 1-1 draw with Ghana at Wembley.
Our young striker, who has enjoyed an impressive campaign on loan at Sunderland, earned glowing praise from coach Fabio Capello afterwards.
"Welbeck, for me, will be another really important player for England," said Capello. "Physically, technically he will be really important for Manchester United because he is a really good player. He can improve, he wants to improve.
"I monitored him last year and I always thought he was an important player. He played right wing last year and played very well. This friendly game was the moment to see the value of him."
Jonny Evans battled on despite a calf injury as Northern Ireland drew 0-0 with Slovenia. Corry Evans also performed well as the brothers combined to almost create a late winner for Chris Brunt. Both United men picked up a rating of '8' in the Belfast Telegraph for their efforts.
