Nani scoops September prize

Nani's outstanding form has been rewarded with the Player of the Month accolade for September.

Voting took place on our seven official websites - and its Arabic, Chinese, French, Japanese, Korean and Spanish versions - and the winger topped the poll ahead of the four other nominees.

Around 15,000 votes were logged and Nani earned 36 per cent of these to see off competition from August's winner Wayne Rooney (26 per cent) and new keeper David De Gea (19 per cent).

Nani sparkled against Stoke, scoring a superb solo goal, and hit a wonder strike in the win against Chelsea at Old Trafford. An important cameo as a substitute in the draw with Basel also helped ensure United avoided a shock defeat to the Swiss champions.

After his 100th appearance for the Reds in the game with Chelsea, Sir Alex said of the talented wide man: "Nani is marvellous. He's a terrific player and he's starting to mature. We're going to get the best years out of him, no doubt."
